FiveM Discord Whitelist with txAdmin: Full Setup Guide
With txAdmin, your FiveM whitelist can rely on a single Discord role: players with the @Whitelisted role get in, everyone else is refused at the door. Add an application bot that gives that role when your staff accepts, and accepting an application is all it takes to whitelist a player. No license to copy, no console command.
This guide takes about 15 minutes, from zero to your first accepted application.
How it works
Three pieces, one job each:
| Piece | What it does |
|---|---|
| The @Whitelisted role | The key to your FiveM server |
| Toscio | Takes applications in Discord and gives the role when staff accepts |
| txAdmin | Checks the role on every connection and refuses players without it |
For the player: they join your Discord, click Apply, fill in the whitelist form, get an “application accepted” DM, launch FiveM and connect. Nobody on your team had to open txAdmin.
This guide follows the txAdmin 8 menus that ship with recent FXServer builds. Option names can move a little between releases.
Before you start
You need:
- a FiveM server running txAdmin, and a txAdmin account allowed to change settings;
- the Manage Server permission on your Discord;
- Discord Developer Mode, to copy IDs: User Settings → Advanced → Developer Mode.
1. Create the @Whitelisted role
- On your Discord, open Server Settings → Roles → Create Role.
- Name it Whitelisted (or WL, Citizen… the name doesn’t matter).
- Right-click the role and choose Copy Role ID. Keep that number handy.
Running a customs interview or a visitor stage? Also create a @Visitor role: Toscio can remove it when the application is accepted.
2. Create txAdmin’s Discord bot
txAdmin needs its own bot to read your players’ roles. It isn’t Toscio: it’s your own bot, used only by txAdmin.
- Go to the Discord Developer Portal and click New Application. Name it after your server.
- In the Bot tab, click Reset Token and copy the token. Never share it: it gives full control of the bot.
- Still in Bot, turn on Server Members Intent and save. Without it, txAdmin can’t see roles.
- In OAuth2 → URL Generator, tick the bot scope, open the generated link and add the bot to your Discord server.
If saving the Discord settings in txAdmin fails or hangs, the Server Members Intent is almost always the reason.
3. Connect the bot in txAdmin
- In txAdmin, open Settings, then the Discord tab.
- Turn on Discord Bot.
- Paste the token into Token.
- In Guild/Server ID, paste your Discord server ID (right-click the server name, Copy Server ID).
- Save.
4. Switch txAdmin to a Discord role whitelist
- Still in Settings, open the Whitelist tab.
- Under Allowlist Mode, pick Discord Server Roles.
- In Allowlisted Discord Roles, paste the @Whitelisted role ID. You can add several, separated by commas (for example @Whitelisted and @Staff).
- In Allowlist Instructions, tell refused players how to apply, for example: “Join discord.gg/yourserver and apply in #apply.”
- Save.
From now on, txAdmin refuses every player without the role. Give it to yourself and your staff before testing.
5. Take applications with Toscio
All that’s left is giving the role automatically.
- Add Toscio to your Discord.
- In Server Settings → Roles, drag the Toscio role above @Whitelisted. Discord only lets a bot give roles below its own.
- Run
/toscio setupwith:template: RP whitelist (FiveM, GTA RP…);channel: where players apply, for example#apply;staff-channel: a private channel for your whitelist team, for example#wl-staff;role: @Whitelisted;staff-role: your whitelist staff role, if you have one.
Toscio posts the panel with the Apply button and confirms where applications will arrive. Your first form comes with 7 days of Premium, free, no credit card: the full whitelist with all its questions.
To pick your questions, browse the 53 FiveM whitelist application questions, then edit the form in the form editor. In the form settings, you can also have @Visitor removed on acceptance.
6. Test the whole flow
With a second Discord account, or a friend:
- Click Apply, fill in the whitelist and send it.
- In
#wl-staff, click Accept on the application card. - Check that the account got @Whitelisted and the confirmation DM.
- Open the Discord desktop app, launch FiveM and connect: you get in.
- Remove the role and try again: txAdmin refuses you with your instructions message.
What your staff sees
Every application lands in the staff channel with the answers, the Discord account age and when the player joined your server, plus three buttons:
- Accept: Toscio gives @Whitelisted and DMs the player in their language. They can connect right away.
- Decline: with a reason, so the player knows what to improve. A 24-hour cooldown (adjustable) stops spam re-applications.
- Interview: a private thread opens with the player. Handy to schedule a voice interview, then accept afterwards.
Common errors
| Message or symptom | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| “You do not have the discord identifier” | FiveM can’t find the player’s Discord account | Open the Discord desktop app (not the browser) before launching FiveM |
| “You are required to join our Discord server” | The player isn’t on the Discord set in txAdmin | Check the Guild/Server ID, and that the player joined the right server |
| “You do not have a allowlisted role” | The player lacks the role, or the pasted ID is wrong | Check the role ID in the Whitelist tab |
| Accepting fails in Toscio | The Toscio role is below @Whitelisted | Move the Toscio role up in Server Settings → Roles |
| txAdmin won’t save the Discord settings | Missing intent | Turn on Server Members Intent in the Developer Portal |
The player must use the same Discord account they applied with: txAdmin checks the role of the Discord account open on their PC.
What about the license whitelist?
txAdmin also offers Approved License mode: each player has to be approved by hand on txAdmin’s Allowlist page, using a request ID. It works, but someone on your team has to do it for every player, on top of reading their application.
With a Discord role, the decision and the access are the same thing. Removing the role removes access, you can whitelist your staff with a second role, and the whole whitelist history stays in Discord.
Going further
- Ban appeals: a player banned from your Discord can no longer apply. With the web form and ban appeals, they appeal from a web page and Toscio unbans them if your staff accepts.
- Staff votes: several whitelist staff members vote on each application, and Toscio decides once enough votes are in.
- Several forms: civilian whitelist, police, EMS, staff… each with its own role and channel. See the FiveM whitelist page.
Questions
How do I set up a FiveM whitelist with Discord?
In txAdmin, enable the Discord bot (Discord tab), then pick the “Discord Server Roles” mode in the Whitelist tab and paste the ID of your @Whitelisted role. Only players with that role on your Discord can connect. An application bot like Toscio gives the role when your staff accepts the application.
Why does a player get “You do not have the discord identifier”?
FiveM could not find their Discord account. The player has to open the Discord desktop app (not the browser version) before launching FiveM, then connect again.
Does txAdmin need its own Discord bot next to Toscio?
Yes. txAdmin uses its own bot, created in the Discord Developer Portal, to read players’ roles. Toscio handles applications and gives the role. Both run side by side without getting in each other’s way.
How do I remove someone from the whitelist?
Remove their @Whitelisted role on Discord. txAdmin checks the role on every connection, so they will be refused on their next attempt.
Does a Discord role whitelist work with ESX and QBCore?
Yes. txAdmin runs the check when the player connects, before the framework is involved. It works the same on ESX, QBCore, Qbox or a custom framework.
