Web form and ban appeals
The web form is a public page for one of your forms. People log in with Discord, answer every question on a single page, and come back to the same page to see the answer. It also powers ban appeals: banned members can't see your server anymore, so a web page is the only way for them to reach your staff.
Both are part of Premium.
When to use it
- Share your form outside Discord: on your website, a server listing, social media, a forum post or a game launcher.
- Long forms: in Discord, applicants answer 5 questions at a time. On the web, they see every question on one page.
- Applicants who prefer a browser, for example to attach files from their computer.
- Ban appeals: see Ban appeals step by step.
The Discord panel keeps working as before. The web form is an extra way in, not a replacement.
Turn on the web form
- In app.toscio.com, open "Forms" and click "Edit" on the form.
- At the bottom of the editor, under "Advanced settings", open the "Web form" section.
- Turn on "Offer the web form".
- Click "Save".
The link appears right below the switch, with "Copy" and "Open". It looks like app.toscio.com/apply/<form id>.
Your panel in Discord gets a second button next to Apply: Apply on the web (its text follows the form's language). Turn the switch off to remove the page and the button.
Share the link
The link never changes, so you can put it anywhere: your website, your server's rules channel, a pinned message, a listing page, your social profiles. Click "Copy" in the editor to get it.
What the applicant sees
- The form page, with your server's name and icon, the panel title and text. The page follows the applicant's browser language, among Toscio's 8 languages, and has a language menu at the top to switch. Your questions and texts stay as you wrote them.
- "Log in with Discord". The page explains why: "So the staff knows who is applying. Toscio only gets your Discord username and avatar: not your servers, not your messages." Discord asks them to confirm, then sends them back to the form.
- Every question on one page, with the same types as in Discord: text, single choice, checkboxes and file uploads. Required questions are marked, and the page says what to fix if an answer doesn't fit ("Some answers need fixing.").
- "Send my application". The page then shows the status of the application: "Your application is being reviewed."
If the applicant can't apply right now, the page says why instead of showing the form, with the same messages as in Discord: not a member of the server ("Join the server first to apply."), account too new, cooldown after a decline, application already pending, applications closed.
Following the answer
When the applicant comes back to the same link, the page shows the status of their application:
- Pending: "Your application is being reviewed." They're told the answer will come by direct message on Discord and also show on the page.
- Accepted: "Your application has been accepted!" with your acceptance message.
- Declined: "Your application wasn’t accepted." with your decline message and the reason typed by your staff.
Toscio still sends the usual DM. If it can't (DMs closed, or a banned applicant), the staff card says "The applicant will see the answer on their application page."
The same rules as in Discord
A web application goes through exactly the same checks as the Apply button:
- the applicant must be a member of your server (except on a ban appeal);
- your conditions to apply: account age, time on the server, required and blocked roles;
- the cooldown after a decline;
- one pending application per form, whether it was sent from Discord or the web.
What your staff sees
Web applications arrive in your staff channel like any other: same card, same buttons, same staff votes. The footer says "web form" after the application number. Files the applicant uploaded are attached to the card.
Ban appeals step by step
A ban appeal is a web-only form for people banned from your server. It has no panel in Discord, since a banned member couldn't see it.
1. Create the appeal form
- In the dashboard, open "Forms" and click "+ New form".
- Choose the "Form language" at the top, then pick the "Ban appeal" template, marked "Premium · web", and click "Continue". It's only in the dashboard, not in
/toscio setup. - Choose the "Staff channel" where appeals arrive, and optionally the "Staff roles". There's no panel channel: "No panel in Discord: you’ll get a link to share with banned members (website, socials, ban message)."
- Click "Create the appeal form".
The window shows "Your appeal form is ready" with the appeal link, "Copy" and "Open". Click "Customize the form" to open the editor, or "Done". The template asks why the person was banned, why the ban should be lifted, what will change, and optionally when it happened and anything else. Edit the questions like any other form.
2. Give Toscio "Ban Members" (recommended)
In Server Settings → Roles → Toscio, turn on Ban Members. It's optional and not requested when you add the bot. With it, Toscio:
- only lets banned people send an appeal. Others see "You are not banned from this server: there is nothing to appeal.";
- shows on the card that the person is banned, with the ban reason;
- lifts the ban automatically when you accept the appeal.
Without it, appeals still arrive, with "Ban not checked" on the card, and you lift the ban yourself after accepting. See Permissions.
3. Share the link
Put the appeal link where banned members will find it: in the message you send before banning someone, on your website, in your server rules, or on a separate appeal server. On the "Forms" page, the appeal card has a "Copy the link" button, and the editor shows it in the "Web form" section.
4. Review appeals
Appeals arrive in your staff channel with Accept and Decline, and staff votes if you set them. There's no Interview button: the applicant is no longer on your server.
- Accept: Toscio lifts the ban if it has Ban Members ("🔓 Ban lifted."), and the page shows your acceptance message. The template's message tells them they can come back. Roles set for acceptance aren't given, since the person isn't a member anymore.
- Decline: type a reason; it shows on the appeal page.
Discord usually doesn't let a bot DM someone banned from the server, so the appeal page is where the person sees your answer. Tell them in your ban message to come back to the same link.
Only the minimum account age condition applies to ban appeals. The cooldown after a decline and the one-pending-application rule still apply.
For ideas on running appeals, see the ban appeals use case.
Limits
- Premium only. If Premium ends, web forms and ban appeals are paused: the page stops accepting applications and the Apply on the web button leaves your panel. Nothing is deleted, and they come back with Premium.
- 4 MB of files in total per web application (in Discord, the limit is 10 MB copied onto the card). Ask for images rather than videos, and fewer files.
- Logging in with Discord is required, so your staff knows who applied.
Questions
Does the applicant need to be on my server to use the web form?
Yes, for a regular form: the web form follows the same rules as Discord. The only exception is a ban appeal, which is made for people who were banned.
What does Toscio see when someone logs in on the web form?
Only their Discord ID, username and avatar. Not their servers, not their messages.
Do I have to give Toscio the Ban Members permission for ban appeals?
No, it's optional. Without it, appeals still arrive in your staff channel, but Toscio can't check the ban or lift it on acceptance: you lift it yourself.
